The Holy Spirit

I was reading this morning and when I came across this passage I had a bit of an epiphany,

"In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. " (Ephesians 1:11-14, ESV)

The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001. Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

The epiphany that I had was in regard to the meaning of being "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit." I pondered that for a long time, trying to imagine just what that "seal" might look like. Was it some feeling of assurance one got? Maybe it was speaking in tongues? But then it came to me that it was nothing other than the very presence of faith in my heart at all! Faith is not our own work but is given to us through or by the Holy Spirit, thus the seal is the fact that we have faith. If we have faith, we know we have the Holy Spirit. :-)

Or at least that is how I see it.
