Movie Review: The Day After Tomorrow
I just went and saw this movie. It was
just barely worth the $5.75 price of admission. The science was,
questionable shall we say? The plot was totally predictable and the acting was stiff and unconvincing. The left wing environmentalist political lecturing was lame and boring. The special effects were pretty fun though, which was almost the only reason I went to see it anyway. The superstorm's storm-surge that took out New York was very fun to watch. The dozens of tornados that decide to wipe out LA look pretty cool, I especially liked the reaction of the janitor in the high rise when half the building was ripped away.
There were some very funny parts too. The hordes of illegal American refugees swarming across the Rio Grande river into Mexico after the Mexican government closed the border was hilarious. As was the fact that the president and vice president bear an unmistakable resemblance to Bush and Cheney, with Cheney being the definite bad guy.
If you want to watch New York get obliterated, again, then go see the movie. Personally I
never tire of seeing New York, Washington DC and Los Angeles being destroyed. :-)
The Guardian has a pretty good review of the science.
