The Dawn's Early Light
This morning, as I rode out of the house on my way to the
BART station at 5:25 am, I looked off into the east and saw, for the first time this year, the first glimmer of morning light on the horizon. Finally, spring is here, no longer will I be riding to the train in what feels like the middle of the night. That first glimmer of dawn is my favorite time of the day. Above you the stars are shining in the blackness, just a few birds have begun to sing, and there is a beautiful but faint turquoise band of "almost light" rising up from the horizon. As I rode praise for God's creation welled up within me, it's hard to have a bad morning when it starts like that, even on a Monday :-)
