Prayer
Some days I am discouraged by the seeming absence of answers to some of my prayers. Today as I was praying and complaining to God I recalled this passage from James 5
"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. " (James 5:13-20, ESV)

Actually what I recalled in my meditation was this little snippet from the King James Version:
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.(Jas 5:16).
I must have memorized that at some point. Which reminds me, I really need to go back and work on memorizing more of the scriptures. The trouble is there are so many versions out there that it becomes hard to sort them out. I guess I ought to use the version I read every day, the English Standard Version.
Ah, the complications of modern life :-)
The NFL is of the devil!
The NFL
is truly a satanic force in the world. Why else do they schedule most of their games on Sunday and during the hours most Christian
ought to be in church. This is especially true on the West Coast.
For yet more proof I give you this from Sports Illustrated:

The
Nefarious
Football
League gave several specious excuses but we all know the real reason is to make sure no one steps foot in a church.
Remember, Baseball = Good, God Fearing American game.
Football = Satanic evil plot to destroy American values.
