Ouch
The idea I had of reducing my time spent putting together morning readings and devotions here has turned out to be a good one. The new reason that this is so is that yesterday at noon I tripped and fell at work. I put out my right hand to catch myself and fractured my wrist in three places. The fractures were very clean, there was no displacement, everything was where it belonged and all pointing the direction it was supposed to be pointing. I am writing this one handed, which is painfully slow!
This morning I used my new LSB short form morning prayer and my paper bible. Oddly this just seemed better somehow. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just that I like the feel of paper and leather in my hands. I am thinking that the main reason it seems better is that it is easier for me to move from one book to another, hymnal, prayer book and bible, while still having the others open before me to refer back to. Even though I use Firefox browser that has handy tabbed browsing it's just less distracting using the books. Especially now that I am reduced to three finger typing and worse, left handed mousing!
I thank God I only broke my wrist and avoided cracking my hard head into the marble floor!
Well, I'm exhausted now so this is it for this morning.
After posting the above I read today's
Higher Things reflection. It made the interesting point that we break the first commandment whenever we break any of the other nine.
By stealing we are saying that God will not give us our daily bread, so we must take. As always, the first commandment is broken when we break any of the other nine.
I think I have probably heard that before but it would interesting to go through them all and see how that plays out.
