Computer Woes
The other day my computer began making a rather distressing noise. I was afraid for a time that it might be the hard drive, but eventually was able to determine that it was actually the cooling fan. The computer is still under extended warranty so I wanted to get the fan replaced, but I was told I had to wait until it failed completely! A very stupid policy but what can I do but complain? I have replaced fans in desk top computers before and so I asked the tech guy if I could just do it myself but they said with a lap top it is not that easy, besides it probably voids my warranty if I pry the back off and start mucking about inside.
When I was thinking that I was going to need to send this machine in for repair I figured that would be a good time to pick up a smaller and lighter machine to carry around with me. I didn't find anything that I both liked and could afford though. During my research I began looking at
tablet PCs, I am intrigued by the concept. There was one on the Circuit City site that was listed as a "Web Only" sale that I thought I would buy since I have a Circuit City account. For some inexplicable reason though this "Web Only" sale was available as an in store pick up only, they won't ship it. Not a problem since I live 1/2 mile from one of their stores... but no, the closest store where I can buy it turns out to be in freaking Santa Cruz!!
I do think that is the sort of thing that will do what I want though, so my intention is to get one by the end of the year, bonus time approaches.
