Thanksgiving
Over the weekend, which for me ended yesterday, I spent a little bit of my time going to Messiah Lutheran Church and helping to prepare and then deliver Thanksgiving Baskets. These included a turkey, some fresh fruits, lots of canned goods, like vegetables and pumpkin pie filling. Also we put in stuffing mix and some staples like sugar and some spices. For families with children there were some toys and books. Then I actually delivered one basket to a family in Dublin. I enjoyed doing it.
The strange thing about the weekend was how hard it was to make myself actually go and do it. I have become such a hermit that leaving the house is a struggle. I am very glad that I went out and participated though.
I'm still looking forward to getting involved in some form of ministry to the homeless soon, I imagine actually stepping out and doing that will be (has been) a major struggle for me just like this minor one time delivery of baskets was. So, if you read this and are a Christian, pray for me, I need all the help I can get :-)
