The "Russian Front"
Retired general William Odom, former head of the National Security Agency said "going into Iraq was the equivalent of the Germans in Stalingrad. They defeated themselves by pouring more in there. Tragic"
That is how big a disaster this stupid war has become.
There is yet another similarity, the US Army is using the threat of being sent there as a punishment and the chance of avoiding going as a reward. Soldiers from a Fort Carson combat unit say they have been issued an ultimatum -
re-enlist for three more years or be transferred to other units expected to deploy to Iraq. Do you want to be sent to Russian front? Do you want to be sent to Iraq? Bummer either way. Not that Iraq is nearly as deadly as the Russian front, at least not yet.
