The Search Continues
Tonight I went to
Messiah Lutheran Church (LCMS) over in Danville. I felt like I was at home :-)
Other places felt OK, or I could manage to deal with them or were strange but the schedule was right... but Messiah is perfect!
A Thursday night Eucharist, a good pastor, Rev. Peter Ledic. As you can see from his name he is Croat, so that's a point in his favor too. He preached a very good sermon, with stuff I needed to hear in it about faith. It is a small group on Thursdays, as you might expect, but very warm. I think I spoke to everyone who was there during the fellowship afterwards.
I plan to go next Thursday night and as I feel right now will probably ask to become a member quite soon.
Already I've decided to skip the Saturday service with the Seventh Day Baptists, I'm not a Baptist, I'm a Lutheran.
I was brought up in the Lutheran church, I love the liturgy there, which is pretty much the same as the Catholic or the Episcopal churches. But the thing about the Lutheran church is that while it is liturgical and has the sacraments, with the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the theology is solidly Protestant, scripture as the authority and faith in Christ for salvation.
I really do think I'm home :-)
