Baptism and Salvation
I've been thinking a bit about baptism and salvation. There are many people who think that baptism is something
we do in obedience to God. I suppose that
could be all right. But I really prefer the imagery that we get from infant baptism. In infant baptism it is
God who does everything. The human is helpless and powerless to do anything at all. God's grace acts to save the infant. Since we are
saved by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves, it is a gift of God, well then our attempts to
do things in order to get saved, like "accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior" and "believers baptism, seem to me to be
WORKS that we do to try and "get saved."
God saves us
"while we are yet sinners" not because of anything we do, including "accepting" Him! Or so I see it anyway :-)
