Why Are Some American Christians So Bloodthirsty?

This article explains why so many "Christians" are in favor of mass murder and torture. I still find it totally incomprehensible myself. I mean, how can anyone read the words of Jesus and then support a war, especially one so clearly evil as the one being waged now? I can't even see Jesus supporting a defensive war, but an offensive war is totally out of the question. Ah well, I suppose I lack imagination enough to grasp subtle points like how "Turn the other cheek" really means kill kill kill.
